Celebrity Inspired!

It is great to get make-up ideas from celebrities, especially if you have a celebrity look a like yourself. If you just like a look and want to copy it, often time it needs to be modified to your features in order to look great on you. You want to wear the make-up, not have the make-up wear you.

If you have ever tried to copy a look and it was a disaster, that is usually why. Your features are spaced differently and your personal style may be a little different. Make-up is fun for that very fact that we can play and dress up to look like a certain movie star, singer or model, and if we mess up, we can have a do-over. Here is a Selena inspired look.

Make-up is just like God's grace. It is very forgiving, covers our imperfections and if we mess up, we can wash it off and start all over again, no questions asked. The ultimate do-over in life! I love it.

The Beauty of Freedom

As we celebrate Memorial Day weekend...reflecting on how much we have to be thankful for. I woke up this morning and there was oxygen all around me... still. Another day, another opportunity to express my thanks to God, in thought, in looking around at how blessed we are. Walking to the kitchen to make some coffee and glaze at the sweet family photos placed strategically in the right places of course on my path to my early destination, not to forget my dog Sammy who thinks I am a rock star by the way she yelps with excitement every single day as I walk past the glass door.

Life is short and we get so caught up and stuck in our daily routines to get to the weekend to yet, start the week all over again. Sometimes I think how in the world can we get so stuck.....when we have so much freedom around us. Maybe we have too many and it can be overwhelming so we stay where we are, comfortable.

This is the time to step up and make some new choices if you feel that you are needing a nudge
in a different direction.

Did you know that we are designed to move...forward! Start moving if you find yourself complacent.
How many people do you see walking and driving around during the day backwards,  talking backwards and writing backwards?  That's what I thought...everybody is moving forward in so many ways. So think of ways where you, are you "not moving forward"? Start making some simple changes. I'll help you brainstorm... (your welcome!)

Your health,
During your down time, are you experiencing maybe too much TV,  engaging with people with true friends, not your million face book fans and tweeters that you don't know...really! Wardrobe overhaul, maybe you are stuck in a style that you still fit in, but you want or need a change. Maybe you have matured but your skincare  and make-up choices haven't. Maybe you need to be the leader in your life and have positive impacts on people around you (by now), but you are still expecting others to be the impact on you.

Let's stay current in moving forward as we pack our purses each day.
So... what you are packing in your cosmetic bag today...or did you forget something?

Foundation: Does it match your true color? Are you covering up or enhancing what God gave you?
Eye Shadows: The colors of your life experience. Are you allowing the colors to change on you as they have changed life around you?
Lip liner: Are you letting the words from your heart, mind and lips be filtered through God's words to redefine how you speak, to others that help shape those around you.
Lip Gloss: Do you gloss over everything in life...or place it discreetly in careful, thought out ways to bring out only the best in yourself and others!
How do you want your life's face to be remembered each day? What kind of memories are you making?

February / Beauty with a Purpose

When I hear the word Beauty....many things pop into my mind.
Anguish...
Something to strive for as we face the mirror each day and count the number of lines on our face, or a step on the scale and allow a measly number to determine if it will be a good morning or not. Allowing the judges scoring to be photo shopped pictures that are impossible to obtain.
Acceptance...
Loving yourself, the way you were made. No one is or will ever be perfect. Doing the best with what you have and making it work! Educating yourself in how to dress, best colors for you, ideal hair and make-up styles. When we know better, we do better.
Peaceful...
A beautiful sunset, an early morning sunrise over fresh water or mountains with or without snow on top.
Joy...
Those who embrace life and and are not bound from their past from enjoying the everyday things of, even in a day to "get things done".
Laughter...
People who have fun anywhere and do not care "what others think, who might be looking on".
Giving...
Those who truly "get it" that life is a journey and where we have been can be a blessing to others
when we can stop and pour into the lives of others and share from our past experiences, good and bad to help and encourage others.
Rest...
Not afraid to say no. Understanding that rest is important mentally and physically and that working from a place of rest can help to stay focused on what is really important and what can wait.
Health...
We all come in different sizes and shapes. Taking care of our health to maintain energy and focus is important to keeping our ideal body proportion & composition in the muscle vs's fat war. I think we can all say we admire those "appear" to be disciplined in this area.
Being...
Being "all there" where ever you are. Not wishing you were always somewhere else. Being fully engaged in mind and body to get the full experience where you are presently.
Growth...
Those who will not settle each day for the same old crazy! Learning from your past.
Reading inspiring books, hearing from others with wisdom. Investing in your life to help others.

When I was much younger, beauty used was something external only to me, until I grew up enough and experienced more things in life to know different. I then began to appreciate that everything that happens in life can be used for future references for ourselves and others who are willing to grow and learn, from...

As we approach Valentines Day...
Love... Is upon us, as we all desperately want to be loved and have someone to love us back.
Love is selfless, giving, peaceful, joyful, patience, kind and not self seeking, does not brag, is not rude, does not hurt others.

You + Acting out everything you do from a place of Love = True Beauty with a Purpose.

Are all Mineral Powders Created Equal?

New Motives Custom Mineral Powders and ingredients.
Mineral Powders have taken the cosmetics industry by storm. Mineral powders are
beneficial for the skin, look natural, and can be used as virtually any cosmetic—
translucent powders, powder foundations, eye shadows, blushers, concealers,
eyeliners, brow powders, and bronzers. Dermatologists and plastic surgeons prefer
mineral powder cosmetics for their patients for post-procedure and post-surgery
wear because they are so gentle on the skin. Women love mineral powders for their
many outstanding qualities and functions, most importantly, how beautiful they make them look!
What Are Mineral Powders? Titanium dioxide, a critical ingredient in mineral powders, can be micronized (milled into a fine powder) which makes the mineral powder easier to apply and provides a more natural look.

Following are mineral powder ingredients and their functions. Most of the ingredients listed are commonly found in loose mineral powders, while a few are less common.
Pressed mineral powders will contain additional ingredients that are used to bind the powder.

Titanium Dioxide -Derived from Titanium. It has the most tinting power of (yellow) white pigments. Also recognized as one of the most effective ingredients for sun protection. Our Titanium Dioxide is triple milled.

Micronized Titanium Dioxide – finely milled Titanium Dioxide Provides the same benefits of Titanium Dioxide but makes mineral powder finer and easier to apply. Our triple milled Titanium Dioxide makes our mineral powder easier to apply and gives it a finer, more luxurious texture. It “floats” cross the skin giving the makeup a “lighter” look.

Zinc Oxide – Provides opacity. It also believed to aid in healing skin disorders. Zinc oxide also provides sun protection. This is a basic ingredient in our mineral powder.

Mica – Provides texture and light diffusion (luminescence) and lip. Our shimmers contain mica. We have shimmers and matte powders so that clients can choose whether or not they want luminescence.

Bismuth Ox chloride- Provides luminescence and is sometimes referred to as “synthetic pearl”. May cause allergic reactions to skin. Motives  DOES NOT USE Bismuth Ox chloride in mineral powders since it provides shine and is a possible skin irritant.

Sericite- A derivative of silica that provides silky texture and light diffusing qualities. The addition of Sericite changes the molecular weight of the powder, allowing it to lay lightly on the skin. Our mineral powder contain Sericite to enhance the silkiness and luxuriousness of the minerals, Sericite also provides light diffusing properties without creating shine.

Kaolin- French Clay help absord oil. Motives Minerals contain French Clay for natural oil absorption.

Color Change for a Season

As the cool weather begins to set in, it's a sign that we too must change our colors. Yes, it is time to lose the spray tans and stay "current" with the season. Here are a few things to keep in mind as we transition into a different time of year. As the warm weather fades...so must our skin tone to reflect the current time. For those of us who "love" the spray tans...our tans we may feel washed out at first.

When there is more color in the skin tone there is less color needed on our faces. So, when we have less pigment in our skin tone, more color needs to be added to enhance our features to keep from looking too washed out through the cooler. For instance, more colors on the eyes that compliment the eye color is ideal for cooler weather. If you have brown eyes and typically wear neutrals, try using gold and green. Think of green as a new neutral, because it is. Look outside at the foliage everywhere and see that there is not a color that doesn't look fabulous next to any shade of green.

Great colors
for brown and green eyes are....vintage glam & chic pressed eye shadows. Garden green eye pencil.

Blue eyes...vintage glam, cappuccino and midnight blue pressed eye shadows with electric blue eye or steel pencil. Add "so peachy" blush to spice up your cheeks and top it off with a warm amber lip plumper for a smooth hydrated finish. And yes...you can still use a little bronzer to add dimension for your face, adding it only around the hairline sides of nose and cheek bones and neck. This will keep you in a healthy believable color if applied moderately, not to make you look like you have been in a dust storm.
